Psychotherapy
Coming to therapy takes courage. Facing feelings and making changes is not an easy road. But often times we reach a point when continuing as we have been feels unbearable.
Unpleasant feelings can be quite uncomfortable. We develop a variety of ways of dealing with our uncomfortable feelings, some healthy and others less so. Often what starts as an effective strategy for coping with an unpleasant feeling becomes an entrenched unhealthy pattern that is difficult for us to see or reflect on. While avoiding feelings or using unhealthy strategies can give temporary relief, the best way to get past painful feelings is to face them. When we can find and explore why we do things and how we feel, we make steps towards being able to manage the feelings and make constructive, deliberate changes. Within a warm and empathic therapeutic relationship, Dr. Krochek collaborates with individuals in distress to address what causing their discomfort. Together they explore the dynamics, past and present, that have contributed to the feelings of distress in order to gain insight into the sources of problems. Equipped with this knowledge, individuals are empowered to decide how to move forward and work to make changes. Facing feelings is hard, and making changes can be frightening, but by working with Dr. Krochek you can work towards achieving lasting changes.
